I never thought I was an artist. I can't draw a crooked line and can barely color coordinate my wardrobe. But I do love to take photographs, and people keep telling me I have a knack for it. So's I got myself a Pentax K10D (now a K-x as of 2/2010) and I slow my family down on every hike and I just love it, even though I've got an endless amount to learn :)

I've needed to start a photography-specific blog for a while now (my LiveJournal readers are being subjected to lots of photography talk, and that's not what most of them are there for ;P) So here's my photography blog: http://ecaterinphotography.blogspot.com/

My round-robin of lenses reaches a, well lets not be hasty, pause :D My Sigma 10-20 arrived yesterday. I took a bunch of photos yesterday, but it was dreary and gray and none of them are photos I'll put up here. Today, however, was one of those glorious Puget Sound days when the sky was a deep azure blue, the clouds were perfectly puffy and creamy white, the temperature was exactly right for bicycling and I couldn't help but get on my bike (with a camera case carefully suspended by an obsessively engineered bungie cord system in my Xtracycle saddle bags - probably gets fewer bumps in there then around my neck). It was time to test the Sig

Starting to post photos from the Pentax DA70mm 2.8 Limited lens, as good a portrait lens as I could ever hope for in such a delightfully compact package :) Check out the B&W photo of my youngest son and of a little baby in some of my latest uploads. Gorgeous! Even flower shots have a vivid 3D effect that I love :)
I've haven't gotten into street candids before, but this focal length lends itself to that because it's so compact and innocuous that no one would suspect it's got a short telephoto reach :) The 3D pop of this lens amazes me - I just love it! And, as I suspected, while I miss my DA35 macro Limited, the 70mm is a much more usef
